In October our Year 7 students studied Anglo-Saxon Britain and made a project focused on the everyday life at that period. As part of the theme, the students created an Anglo-Saxon settlement, wrote their names in runes, created dolls and performed a small play.
Last month our year 10 students studied The Canterbury Tales by G. Chaucer. They got to know why Geoffrey Chaucer's contribution to English literature is so extremely important. At the lessons they spoke about the differences in medieval and modern English and the way the language develops. As part of cross-curriculum studies, the students discussed the social life and classes in Medieval England and learned a part of General Prologue in the original medieval English. The students built the life cycle of a butterfly in class, and made a life cycle of their choice at home, and presented it to the class. They’ve chosen different cycles: water cycle, moon phases, a life cycle of a chick, and many more. We all were very impressed with their work!
She says: “I shared my own story with the kids to teach them about one of the biggest lessons I learned during my own journey with cancer. We spoke about how grateful we are for being healthy, for our families, friends, school, food, house and toys. We made turkeys to say what we are thankful for”.
Our Senior classes visited the State Historical Museum in September. The guided tour was excellent: the guide was very knowledgeable and clearly had a passion for the museum. The students learned about the history of Russia in XVIII-XIX centuries.
We started our school year with an amazing fieldtrip! Everyone really enjoyed visiting *Kuskovo Park Museum*.
Our younger children visited a local stable to give them some insight into a book which they are reading for their English Literature classes, “Black Beauty” – a famous children’s classic novel by Anna Sewell which is in fact a life-story of a horse.
The school enjoyed a wonderful creative event – Snow Sculpture Competition.
In December our Christmas Activities were open by the traditional Decoration Day.
All the pupils and staff put in a huge effort to prepare for the Autumn Festival on the last Friday of October, and their efforts resulted in a wonderful day with many-many good memories.
